Establishing itself as one of the UK 'signature varietals', Madeleine is a very distinctive early ripening grape with a thin skin and a very floral, delicate character. It grows with great exuberance here and often overcrops.

Madeleine is a very expressive grape which offers a distinctive style of wine that is significantly different to Bacchus with its clean and gentle character. 

Ours is fermented in stainless steel at 20 degrees for two weeks, rested on the lees for a further seven days before malolactic fermentation takes place to soften the naturally high malic acids in this variety. 

Recently described by a Master of Wine as "Aromatic, floral, usually smells like an English garden after a summer shower", just one of the reasons we champion the grape as one of its biggest UK producers. 

TASTING NOTES

  • Appearance

Light and bright, with a pale yellow colour that makes it look as fresh as it tastes.

  • Aroma (Nose)

A burst of citrus—think lemons—with a touch of elderflower. There’s a floral note too, similar to fresh flowers in the garden.

  • Palate (Taste)

Crisp and refreshing, with plenty of zesty fruit flavours like green apple and a hint of stone fruit. It’s got a clean, dry finish that leaves you wanting another sip.

  • Body

Light and smooth, perfect for sipping on a sunny day or enjoying with friends. Clean and refreshing, with just the right amount of citrusy zing to keep things interesting.

-Shellfish like oysters, prawns, and lobster. Grilled fish such as sole, cod, or sea bass. Light fish dishes like ceviche or smoked salmon.
