From Farm to vineyard

History

Giffardes Farm was documented as early as 1408 and has experienced a few spelling changes before it became the Giffords Hall Vineyard we know today.

Our first vines were planted in 1986. Since then the Vineyard has expanded to over 35 acres across two sites in West Suffolk.

The Giffords Hall label was introduced in 2009 with a Rose and a Bacchus still wine with Brut Reserve following in 2010.

In 2012 the brand became Giffords Hall Vineyard Ltd and has gone from strength to strength.

2024 brings a new addition to the range - Pinot Noir 2023.

Minimal Intervention

Giffords Hall Vineyard is engaged in the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain initiative, aiming to implement natural weed control, disease prevention, and canopy management techniques. The vineyard adheres to minimal intervention principles and supports a friendly flock of rare breed sheep on the property, promoting the thriving of indigenous flora and fauna.

Our vineyards cultivate various grape varieties including Bacchus, Rondo, Madeleine Angevine, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc. Recent additions of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Meunier signal our commitment to expanding our selection.

Our Winery

Wines are made using both stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. While our aromatic wines are habitually fermented in stainless steel to preserve varietal characteristics, others are lees aged in barrel to bring a higher level of expression and complexity. Each batch is individually monitored and the end wines are blended together by our skilled winemaker.
